As a security precaution against compromises Bitstamp only maintains a small fraction of customer bitcoins in online systems. I trade on bitstamp.net I deposit EUR via SEPA, as I live in a SEPA country. Never had any problems at all so far. I order the SEPA-transfer on-line at my Bank. Cost for the transer at my Bank- Zero/Nada. The transer takes place the day after my order at my Bank.
